Item Description:  An invitation to George W. Burwell to attend an a trial investigating the conduct of negroes during a Union raid. He was a business man and physician in Virginia.

G. W. Burwell                                                                                                                August 12th 1864

Col. Bacon , ? Wm Roberts and myself appointed tomorrow (Saturday 13th)  to have an investigation of the negroes of the neighborhood during the Yankee Raid. To meet at our shop. We would be glad for you to come over and be with us and bring any negroes on evidence which might be of importance in the trial.   Brother Wm wishes you to bring over his Bond that he may take it in. Yours Truly,
