Abstract: The Horlbeck family of Charleston, S.C., included brothers John and Henry Horlbeck (fl. ca. 1817) and Henry’s sons John, Henry, Daniel, and Edward (all fl. 1853-1854). The collection is one volume used by Henry Horlbeck’s sons, John, Henry, Daniel, and Edward, chiefly as an inventory of slave and real estate holdings in Charleston District, S.C., 1853-1854. Some of the pages in this volume were used as a child’s scrapbook of newspaper and magazine clippins, ca. 1920.
